No matter what major medical plan you have, when you have to
be hospitalized there will probably be some medical costs as
well as other non-medical costs that aren’t covered. A
Hospital Indemnity plan offers fixed rate, flat sum
dollar amounts that are paid directly to YOU. You can even
purchase these plans if you have other medical insurance, or
no insurance at all. Many of the plans have very few
qualifying medical questions (compared to major medical
plans!). Our goal is to help you understand these plans are great coverage and offer peace of
mind in a variety of unforeseen medical emergencies.
A hospital stay - even a short one - can be very expensive.
Your entire hospital bill probably won't be covered even
with a great employer sponsored health plan. And what about
things like transportation and meals for visiting family
members, child care, mortgage, car payments and other
expenses that don't stop just because you are hospitalized
and have to miss work? These "non medical" expenses can add
up to thousands with even a minor hospital confinement.
Hospital Indemnity plans (HIP) are designed to provide
you with cash benefits during a covered
hospitalization.
We can help you find a variety of supplemental plans.
Some of our clients prefer
Hospital Indemnity plans (HIP) that simply pay a flat amount for every
day they are hospitalized. Others prefer plans that only
pay if they are hospitalized for a specific event such as
an
accidental Injury,
heart attack, stoke, or a cancer diagnosis, etc. These
plans can also pay daily benefits, or a flat cash payout if
desired. Some of our clients are looking for
disability plans that will pay them a daily benefit for
every day they are not able to return to work after a
sickness or accident that required hospitalization. Yet
others have Health Savings Accounts (HSA) plans and want to
get options that would be compatible with these HSA options.

Hospital Indemnity Example: You have a HDHP
medical plan with a $5,000 Deductible. If you were put in
the hospital for 3 days, you would have to pay the entire
bill up to the $5,000 deductible before the insurance
company starts paying 80% or 100% of the plan. If you were
to purchase one of the various Hospital Indemnity plans
(HIP)
available, then you would receive a flat amount for
being hospitalized (say $1,000) and an additional $1,000+
per day for each day you are hospitalized. This would give
you $3,000 to help pay the deductible. If you were to
have a longer stay, you would have your entire deductible
paid, and have money left over to use for all the other
expenses associated with you being hospitalized (for example
you miss work, so you can use this money to pay for
mortgage, rent, car payments, babysitter... whatever!)
